Progression Planner

The Progression Planner is a decision template for Roll A Gnome. Fill it mentally (or in notes) at the start of a session. The rule: one primary bottleneck per session.

Step 1 — Identify the empty bottle

Choose exactly one:

Step 2 — Write a single next action

Examples:

  • “Unlock the next plot unlock after two sell cycles”
  • “Roll block of 15 under full luck; keep only A-tier farmers”
  • “Replace three weakest tiles, then log out for offline”

Bad example: “Expand and roll and maybe buy a gamepass.”

Step 3 — Define success

  • Space success: new tiles filled within the session
  • Power success: median placed rarity/output up
  • Flow success: cash per twenty minutes up
  • Odds success: checklist fully green before rolls

Step 4 — Session script

  1. Run Luck Checklist
  2. Execute the single next action
  3. Stop when success criteria hit or cash reserve reached
  4. Plant for Offline Progress
  5. Note the following session’s bottleneck

Sample plans

New player day one

Primary: Odds → claim Free Luck Rewards, then Flow with starter placements from Getting Started.

Early game week one

Primary: Power via guided rolls (How to Get More Luck, keep rules from Gnome Rarity Tiers, build notes in Early Game Build.

Mid game

Primary: Space then Power in alternating sessions (Mid Game Progression.

Anti-patterns the planner prevents

  • Spending code rewards with no target (Codes Hub
  • Expanding empty plots
  • Rolling during temporary boosts while inventory is full (Auto Roll Script risks amplifying this)

Review weekly

Once a week, skim Patch Notes and adjust keep rules. Progression planning is how incremental games stay fun instead of becoming sticky-click chores.

Write your next action in one sentence before you press Play. That sentence is the whole tool.

Writing better next actions

Strong: “Sell twice, buy one expansion, fill new tiles with bench farmers.” Weak: “Get stronger.” Strong: “Roll 12 times under +100% Luck; keep only upgrades to median.” Weak: “Go crazy on rolls.”

Specific verbs create finish lines. Finish lines create dopamine that does not require breaking the cash floor.

Review prompts

Sunday review questions: Which bottleneck dominated? Which session type did I skip? Did offline planting actually happen? Did codes or patches change the plan? File answers beside Updates Hub reading. Planners that never review become diaries of ignored intentions.

Combine this tool with build pages in the Players Hub so your one-sentence action matches your stage identity.

Example filled planner cards

Card 1: Bottleneck Space — Action: sell three times, buy expansion, fill with bench — Success: zero empty tiles — Follow-up: Power session tomorrow. Card 2: Bottleneck Odds — Action: checklist, then twelve rolls — Success: at least one median upgrade — Follow-up: plant offline. Card 3: Bottleneck Flow — Action: twenty-minute sell sprint, no rolls — Success: cash floor restored — Follow-up: revisit Make Money Fast.

Copy a card style that fits your brain. The planner is a mold; your words are the cast. When cards pile up unfinished, you are planning too much and playing too little — shrink to one card per day and execute.

Sticky-note edition

If digital tools distract you, write one bottleneck and one action on a physical sticky note beside your keyboard. Cross it out only when the success line is true. Photograph completed notes weekly to see patterns — endless Space notes mean you expand without farmers, endless Odds notes mean you ignore crops.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I pursue two bottlenecks at once?

You can notice two, but spend the session fixing one. Split focus is why gardens stall.

How do I know the plan worked?

Use the success criteria you wrote: filled tiles, higher median output, faster cash, or clean luck checks.

Where do builds fit in?

Use Early Game Build and Mid Game Progression pages as example plans, then customize with this planner.
